Removal technique should match what is actually at risk

Snapping off support material by hand is the default technique for most prints, but it is not always the right one. A support contacting a visible cosmetic face, or sitting right next to a thin, breakable detail, changes the calculus: a technique that would be perfectly fine on a hidden interior wall can scar a display surface or snap a fragile feature on a different part of the same print. This tool matches removal strategy to what is actually at stake for the specific support region you describe.

How the plan works

Soluble support, when your printer and slicer actually support it, is the cleanest option whenever available, since it removes support with no mechanical force on the part at all. For same-material support, a region that is both visible and near a fragile feature points toward redesigning to avoid the support entirely, rather than trying to perfect a risky manual removal. Tight access without those combined risks points toward tuning your slicer's support interface settings first, to make the eventual breakaway removal cleaner.

Same-material support touching a visible face, with a fragile feature nearby: the tool recommends redesigning to avoid needing support in this specific region (via reorientation or a geometry change), since the combination of visibility and fragility makes a careful manual removal the riskier path compared to removing the need for support at all.

A common mistake

A frequent error is attempting to remove support with the same tool and technique regardless of how close it sits to a fragile feature. A flat-blade knife that works fine for a robust section can easily snap a thin nearby wall if used the same way in a delicate area; switch to a gentler technique (fingers, a rounded tool, or soaking for soluble support) near anything fragile.
